CM Punk Made ‘Desperate’ Attempt At WWE Return Before Signing With AEW

CM Punk was fired from AEW, and his options seemed to have opened up in a big way. His WWE return is churning in the rumor mill right now, but that is also a story we’ve heard before.

Ringside News reached out to inquire about CM Punk’s possible return to WWE. We are told that this is not the only time he’s made an attempt at a WWE return.

A tenured member of the team told us that while CM Punk, “was on the WWE show on Fox Sports. He was trying to get back in, WWE never wanted him back.” That was in reference to the WWE Backstage show, that was hosted by Renee Paquette, where Punk was special analyst.

We were further told that, “Punk thought he was creating his own angles,” on that WWE Backstage show. That being said, “WWE was never interested.”

Only time will tell what CM Punk does next, but it seems that he has burned every bridge he’s walked on so far in the pro wrestling world. Also, Tony Khan bought ROH since the last time Punk was a free agent, so that eliminates another option for him.

If CM Punk wants to wrestle badly enough, he might find a location, but WWE certainly wasn’t interested prior to his AEW signing. Obviously, this is just the beginning of this new chapter in CM Punk’s story, and he hasn’t closed the book just yet.
