CM Punk was missing from AEW’s Collision announcement, and that got the rumor mill going in big way. After all, CM Punk was set to be a focal point for their new Saturday Collision show. It seems that it all stemmed from something AEW told Ace Steel that they eventually walked back on.

AEW actually re-hired Ace Steel a while ago. Of course, Ace Steel was the sticking point with CM Punk, because AEW was willing to re-hire Steel, but he wasn’t allowed in the building for their television taping events. AEW originally denied that they re-hired Ace Steel, but it’s pretty clear at this point that they did.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Ace Steel was under the impression that he would join AEW on the road for Collision. When it was revealed that AEW was not bringing Steel to their Collision tapings, this caused a huge problem with CM Punk.

When Ace Steel was re-hired, which was many many weeks ago, I know he was under the impression that his job was to be a producer on Collision and work the Saturday shows. I don’t know which words were said by who, but I do know that he has thought that for a while.

Was it a misunderstanding? Was it a plans changed? I don’t know. I know that if he thought that, then Punk thought that and obviously on Tuesday of last week Punk was told something different and that’s what led to everything.

This is an interesting situation, because Ace Steel has been silent on the matter. Perhaps someday he will drop a shoot interview and clear everything up.

We will have to see what is next in this situation. Ace Steel has a lot to offer AEW, but his previous drama, which included dropping profanity on live television followed by throwing a chair and biting Kenny Omega during Brawl Out, can be forgotten.

CM Punk went on quite an Instagram story spree after news of his issues with AEW broke. He also uploaded an alleged email from Bryan Alvarez to CM Punk, one that mentioned Maria Kanellis in very interesting way. Alvarez then unloaded on Punk in reply.

What’s your take on the CM Punk situation? Do you think that AEW needs to give Ace Steel his job back as producer? Sound off in the comments!
