Marty Jannetty might belong in the WWE Hall of Fame, depending on who you ask. He has certainly lived an incredible life in professional wrestling. Now, after decades in the business, the former Rocker’s days in the ring are done.

Marty Jannetty will receive his own episode in season 4 of Dark Side of the Ring. This episode will reportedly be “insane,” and that would just be fitting to Marty’s incredible life in the pro wrestling business.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end, no matter how wild of a ride it is. While speaking to Bill Apter, Shawn Michaels’ former tag team partner admitted that while he wanted to compete again, his doctor told him not to. That effectively put an end to his 40-year career in the squared circle.

“No. I did want to [wrestle again]. Why? Because it’s so painful. I did want to but the doctor who fixed it told me ‘I’m going to fix you again, so you can walk again without pain, please don’t jump off the top ropes. If you mess it up again, I may not be able to fix it.’ I thought I’d just tell him ok, but I went through the rehab and the pain.”

Marty Jannetty waited for a long time to get that ankle surgery, one that doctors had to wait before they could perform. Jannetty might not be able to wrestle again, but nothing will stop him from taking dates, so he can show up for meet and greets, even though he has to stay out of the ring.

We will have to see what’s next for Marty Jannetty. He could see another career resurgence after his Dark Side of the Ring episode airs. If anything, he certainly gave it all to the pro wrestling business during his time in the ring.

What’s your take on Marty Jannetty retiring? Does he deserve a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame? Sound off in the comments!
