Konnan has been fighting through one of the roughest stretches of his life, but there is finally some encouraging news surrounding the wrestling legend — and it comes just before TNA is set to honor him in a major way.

Dave Meltzer revealed on the October 10 edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that he received a fresh update on Konnan’s condition ahead of TNA Bound For Glory, where Konnan is scheduled to be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame.

The conversation started when Bryan Alvarez asked whether Konnan would actually be able to attend the ceremony in person. Meltzer made it clear he was not expecting that to happen, but then dropped the much bigger update about where things currently stand with Konnan’s health.

“I don’t think so. I can’t even imagine that he would be there. He might be. They’re bringing. It’s funny, you know, Mike Santana is going to do it. The introductions and they have to call him Cruz Montana. Even though in TNA he was Mike Santana, their world champion for and and on their roster forever and ever and ever. So. But he’s going to be inducting. I can’t imagine Conan will be there. I will say this, I actually did hear this tonight. The word Conan is past the worst. Thank God. I mean he went through hell, but he is past the worst is what I was told. So there you go.”

Alvarez immediately reacted to the update and sent his best wishes to Konnan as the Hall of Fame ceremony approaches.

“Well, all the best to him and nice to see him inducted tomorrow.”

That “past the worst” line is a massive development considering just how ugly Konnan’s health situation has been throughout 2026. As Ringside News previously covered, Meltzer said earlier this year that Konnan had been in life-threatening condition before finally beginning to show signs of improvement. Even then, the situation was still considered extremely serious.

Things only got more alarming as additional details surfaced. Ringside News also covered claims that Konnan underwent a second leg amputation while dealing with his medical crisis. Then came another troubling update when Latin Lover said Konnan was waiting for another kidney transplant after his previous kidney was rejected. At the time, Latin Lover described Konnan’s condition as hanging by a “very, very thin thread.”

Now, after months of scary updates, surgeries and uncertainty, the tone has finally shifted.

Meltzer was careful not to say Konnan has fully recovered, and there is still no confirmation that he will physically appear at Bound For Glory. But being told that Konnan is “past the worst” after everything he has gone through is easily one of the most positive updates fans have received in months.

The timing also makes the moment even more emotional. Konnan is set to be honored as part of the 2026 TNA Hall of Fame class alongside ODB and Amazing Red, giving him one of the biggest recognitions of his career while he continues fighting through serious health issues.

TNA has also confirmed that the Bound For Glory Hall of Fame ceremony will take place before the main show, adding even more attention to whether Konnan might somehow be able to take part in the celebration.

Whether Konnan appears in person or has to watch the ceremony from somewhere else, this one is going to hit differently. After months of frightening health updates, hearing that he has finally made it through the worst part of the battle is the kind of news fans have been waiting for.

What do you think about this latest update on Konnan’s health, and do you think he will make any kind of appearance during the TNA Hall of Fame ceremony? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think.
