Impact Wrestling recently recorded its lowest viewership in the history of the company. Despite a working agreement which brought AEW stars into the company and strengthened viewership and pay-per-view buys temporarily, the luster seems to have worn off. Left to their own devices, the promotion is struggling, despite putting on a decent-to-good quality show every week.

Now, Impact is offering fans something completely off the wall. With AEW-signed wrestler Kenny Omega wearing the AEW World title belt on the cover, they’re selling VHS collector’s set of their 2021 Slammiversary PPV. You read that correctly. Impact announced the new product on Twitter earlier this morning. They didn’t mention why they’re releasing the show on a media format that has been dead since the early 2000’s.

For $25, you can own a limited edition, two-cassette copy of Slammiversary. The event was headlined by an Impact World title match between Omega and Sami Callihan. Thunder Rosa also appeared on the show, wrestling Deonna Purrazzo for the Knockouts championship. The tapes are available for sale now on the ShopImpact.com website.

“Experience Slammiversary 2021 on this extremely limited, collectors edition, double cassette VHS available now from @shopimpactdeals!

Our world changes again at Slammiversary 2021. Kenny Omega defends the IMPACT World Title against Sami Callihan, Moose takes on Chris Sabin, Josh Alexander puts the X-Division Title on the line in the return of Ultimate X and more!”

It remains to be seen who the market is for such a thing. While retro tech has its niche, it is a tiny one. At $25, the company doesn’t seem to be charging a premium for this set. A search for “VHS” on the ShopImpact site reveals only the Slammiversary set in the results. We’ll see how the latest experiment by Impact brass goes. WWE’s last VHS release was SummerSlam 2005.
