Johnny Gargano’s contract talks with WWE have mostly left fans in the dark. We now have some idea of what might indicate how the negotiations have gone. Johnny Wrestling’s contract is set to expire on December 3, and as far as anybody knows, he hasn’t re-signed with the company. WWE is said to be pushing hard for the superstar to stay with them.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spelled out the situation. He said fans can look to the result of Johnny’s matchup on tonight’s NXT 2.0 as an indicator of whether he will stay or go. If he wins the NXT North American Title from Carmelo Hayes, it’s likely that he’s staying.

“So, if Johnny Gargano somehow wins the match, that to me would be a sign that he must have signed a new contract. His deal’s up December 3rd, and he had not signed as of a couple of days ago. So he would be a favored, unless that somehow changes, he would be favored to lose in this match – be the one that gets beaten, if he doesn’t re-sign.”

Johnny is scheduled for a three-way bout with Pete Dunne and Carmelo Hayes on the show. Hayes’ title will be on the line. If they don’t plan on Johnny sticking around, they wouldn’t put the title on him. It’ll also be interesting to see which wrestler takes the fall.
