Adam Cole’s contract with WWE’s NXT brand ran out in July, and Canyon Ceman took some heat for that. Cole agreed to stick around until August 22nd’s NXT TakeOver: 36 event as he signed short extension. No long term deal has been signed yet, because Cole is still weighing his options.

Ringside News exclusively reported that there isn’t “major push” to keep Adam Cole around WWE. The former NXT Champion did meet with Vince McMahon prior to SmackDown to discuss his options. McMahon reportedly took a liking to Cole in that meeting as well.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Adam Cole has not made up his mind about what he wants to do in the future. Tony Khan denied offering Cole a deal at this point, but it’s hard to believe he wouldn’t be welcomed with open arms in AEW.

Adam Cole met with Vince McMahon on 8/6 in Tampa before the show. The meeting was said to have gone well and the writing team was told to come up with scenarios for him. As of the latest word, he hadn’t decided on what he was going to do.

Britt Baker made it clear that she will be happy for Adam Cole no matter which company he chooses. The next month is likely to be a very interesting time in Adam Cole’s career, because August 22nd’s NXT TakeOver: 36 event could include his final match under Vince McMahon’s umbrella.
