Adam Cole’s WWE NXT contract ran up in July, and that caught executives by surprise. He will stick around, but he isn’t guaranteed to be around for much longer.

It appears that Cole and Kyle O’Reilly are battling at the next TakeOver event on August 22nd. Depending on how things go, that could be Cole’s final match in the company.

According to a report fromFightful, Adam Cole verbally agreed to stay with NXT through SummerSlam. They did sign something after that to make it official, but that is the only contract he actually signed. It is also a very short contract.

Upon learning that Cole’s deal was up, WWE gained a verbal agreement with Cole. We’re told shortly after that he actually did sign a short-term extension to through Summerslam weekend. Until this, we’d not had confirmation he’d put pen to paper on the extension.

Adam Cole maintains a great relationship with everyone in charge of NXT, and he has massive respect for them as well. Britt Baker made it clear that she will be happy for Cole no matter where he decides to work, hopefully fans will feel the same way.
