Adam Cole’s WWE NXT contract expired in July, but he agreed to work through SummerSlam. No long term deal was extended to Cole, but a high power meeting was scheduled with Vince McMahon prior to SmackDown this week.

According to Fightful Select, word is that “the meeting went well.” Vince McMahon also seemed to have “taken a liking” to the former NXT Champion “on a personal level.”

Those backstage at SmackDown noted that Cole wasn’t around when the show started. The original plan was for Cole to meet with McMahon last Friday in Minnesota, but they changed things around.

The report also stated that there have been pitches within WWE for Cole to make a main roster jump if he wants to sign a new deal.

Pitches for Cole on both Raw and Smackdown over the last week if he were to re-sign, with WWE sources telling us that it was communicated to Cole that he is wanted on the main roster.

We will have to see how things situation pans out for Adam Cole. Following his meeting with McMahon, news broke that the company fired a dozen NXT Superstars and a referee. That sent shockwaves through the company as repackaging efforts continue for NXT.

The ball seems to be in Adam Cole’s court at this point. Tony Khan has denied offering any contract to Cole, and it was not reported that WWE has extended an offer either. Keep checking back with Ringside News for constant updates!
