Drew McIntyre is back on American soil, but that doesn’t mean WWE fans should start expecting his music to hit just yet.
McIntyre has been off WWE television since WrestleMania 42, with his absence planned ahead of time so he could handle commitments outside the ring. That included movie work and other projects that kept the former WWE Champion away from weekly programming for the past several months.
According to PWInsiderElite.com, McIntyre has now returned to the United States after wrapping up those commitments, along with other WWE-related projects. Here’s the catch: WWE apparently hasn’t started mapping out his television comeback yet.
There have been no creative discussions about when McIntyre will return to TV or what storyline he’ll step into once he’s back in front of the cameras. So while McIntyre being back in the country clears one obvious hurdle, it doesn’t mean a surprise return is locked in for the next RAW, SmackDown or premium live event.
WWE does have a loaded fall schedule coming up, which gives the company plenty of places to plug McIntyre back into the mix once they decide what they want to do with him. McIntyre has been one of WWE’s biggest players over the past few years, especially after turning heel and getting into a heated program with CM Punk. His WrestleMania 42 appearance remains the last time fans saw him on WWE television. Drew McIntyre is back where WWE can use him whenever they’re ready. Now it’s just a matter of when creative finally pulls the trigger.
