Otis won the 2020 Money in the Bank briefcase, but he did not get to cash it in. He lost the title of Mr. Money in the Bank to The Miz several months later. The fact is that Vince McMahon booked Otis to win the briefcase to get a shocking moment, but there was no follow-up.

WWE had plans for an Otis program with Bray Wyatt’s Fiend. Those were scrapped, but we reported in July that: “Otis’ Money In The Bank win was supposed to ‘set him up down the line for The Fiend.’ Bray Wyatt has since been transitioned into a multi-match program with Braun Strowman.”

There were plans for Otis to hold the Money In The Bank briefcase for a while and not cash in. Ringside News reported on September 18th that the company had no plans for him to cash it in any time soon.

Time went on, and Otis’ storyline didn’t advance at all. In fact, his reign as Mr. Money In The Bank entered “holding pattern.” This is about the time when The Miz started muscling in and making his intentions known that he wanted to take Otis’ briefcase as we reported:

“There are currently “multiple endings” and one does include Miz taking the Money In The Bank briefcase from Otis. There are “others where Otis keeps the briefcase.””

WWE kept their options open, and finally, Mr. McMahon made up his mind that he was going to change plans once again.

Otis lost his Money in the Bank briefcase at Hell in a Cell. Tucker turned on Otis in the process, a decision that was made about week in advance.

Now both Otis and Tucker have fallen out of Vince McMahon’s favor. The story is not over for either of them, because they both still have a lot of talent. They are simply victims of Vince McMahon losing interest in an angle and not having any follow-up planned after shocking moments.
