Coronavirus Keeping More Wrestlers Off Television Than Fans Realize

WWE was forced to change one of WrestleMania’s main event matches when Roman Reigns decided not to work. This was a very high-profile story. There are plenty of other people who decided not to take the risk during the COVID-19 pandemic, but some fans might not realize it.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Roman Reigns’ situation. He recently did an appearance with the intention of plugging a WWE special. Kyle O’Reilly was also mentioned as he has diabetes. Hangman Page also can’t attend the tapings, but it’s not for his own health concerns.

There are plenty of other stars who can’t make the current run of television tapings in every company that is trying to produce content.

“Whether it’s [Roman Reigns] or Kyle O’Reilly or Adam Page who’s not a high risk, but there’s a reason he’s not coming. There’s a lot of guys who you know because they’re famous and on TV and a lot that you don’t know that are sitting this out for family reasons and they’re very concerned.”

It was noted that “if this was until the end of July it’s one thing.” The big question is how long these people will sit out of work before they have to make a decision to come back. It might be easier for some to stay at home than others due to financial reasons.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed everyone’s lives. It appears that some tough decisions will need to be made as the planet adjusts to a new normal.
