Cody Rhodes is claiming there was never any real heat with Travis Scott after the rapper blasted him during their WWE storyline — even though the shot became one of the most talked-about celebrity moments WWE has done in years.
During a new appearance on Complex’s Sneaker Shopping, Rhodes was asked about Travis Scott sneakers after previously saying there were “no more Travis Scotts in the house” following their WWE run.
That opened the door for Cody to address the situation again, and according to him, there was never any legitimate beef behind the scenes. Rhodes first brought up the pair of Travis Scott sneakers he bought for Brandi Rhodes before joking about the size of Scott’s hand and the infamous slap.
“Well, the Travis Scott of it all, the pair that Brandi did wear those. And I don’t think she gave a damn that he’s put the big old slap — I don’t even know what we’d call his hand. It was like a frying pan. He’s got a big hand. And I — no, there was never, never any heat. We love Travis Scott.”
That is quite a claim considering what actually went down. Scott got physical with Cody during the 2025 Elimination Chamber angle involving The Rock and John Cena, delivering a massive open-hand shot that left Rhodes visibly banged up. Cody later said the strike busted his eardrum, making the whole thing look a lot less like your typical worked celebrity slap. “But they were — they were, I think, shunned a little bit, you know, put them on ice for a little bit. But they’re great. I mean, these right here, right? It’s a great kick. You can’t deny it.”
Rhodes has gone out of his way before to keep the situation from turning into a public war. He later pushed back on the idea that Scott’s slap created some huge issue between them, and he even revealed that Scott secretly left him a pair of sneakers afterward. So despite a busted eardrum, a sneaker ban, and getting physical on WWE’s biggest stages, Cody Rhodes is sticking to one story — there was never any real heat with Travis Scott. If anything, Cody sounds like he’s already ready to see him walk back through the WWE door.
