CM Punk teased today that he will let fans down and continue to stay away from AEW despite so many people wishing he would sign with The Elite.

The door is always open for CM Punk to join All Elite Wrestling, but Cody Rhodes wanted to make one thing clear as he spoke to ComicBook.com about the Second City Savior.

Having Punk as a part of AEW would be very exciting because fans have never given up on him, but just because AEW really wants him doesn’t mean Punk is interested. However, if Punk is interested then they are willing to do everything in their power to sign him.

“Last year something with All In that we noticed is that at the actual show there wasn’t a single CM Punk chant. I thought, ‘Great, OK. It’s not that they don’t like Punk, but they know that we’re here and we’re putting on this show.’ This year I don’t expect anything different. I’ve been very honest about that door remains opened. The fans have never given up on CM Punk and if he wanted to be part of AEW we would do everything in our power to make him part of it.”

CM Punk’s name keeps coming up in conversation about possible joining AEW, but it hasn’t happened just yet. Just because Punk hasn’t made a pro wrestling return doesn’t mean it’s impossible, but his continued resistance isn’t raising our hopes right now.

Then again, maybe that will make it so much more surprising if CM Punk does agree to join AEW.
