All Elite Wrestling is opening their doors and they have a ton of hype behind them. However, they haven’t even held their first event yet. They don’t even own pro wrestling ring, but there are still fans who are convinced that AEW is already big competition for WWE.

While speaking to Gamespot, Kevin Nash poked a big hole in the theory that AEW will be immediate competition for WWE. They might have fan interest, but the company has yet to really prove themselves. On top of that, they are entering the picture as WWE is about to make a huge jump to Fox.

“You know, I think that the WWE is always going to be a flag-bearer. I think when we made the run with Turner against Vince, Vince, he was a private company. We just basically out-moneyed him. We kept buying his stars. WCW didn’t make any stars. They just bought Vince’s stars, and that’s the whole thing now is the Bucks and guys like that, I think it’s great, and people are like, ‘What do you think? It’s just going to be another Monday Night War?’ I’m like, ‘Dude, they’ve done one pay-per-view you know? Vince is getting ready to go on FOX.'”

Kevin Nash said that AEW has done one pay-per-view, but that isn’t even technically true. ALL IN took place before AEW was a real thing and it was a collaborative effort with the assistance of ROH which is why they share the master tapes.

Fox changed their mindset from ensuring WWE will be on Fridays on their main network to that just being a short term plan. Still, it is a very big move and could garner a lot of attention for WWE. That is not even considering Fox’s resources which could be available for WWE as well.

We will have to wait and see, but don’t start assuming AEW is going to immediately become the next WCW.
