Zelina Vega isn’t sugarcoating anything after her WWE release—and she’s making it crystal clear that her Women’s United States Championship run didn’t live up to what she envisioned.

This comes right after Vega was let go as part of WWE’s latest round of cuts following WrestleMania 42. While speaking on her Twitch stream on April 25, 2026, Zelina Vega opened up about her time as champion—and didn’t sugarcoat her feelings about how it played out.

Before getting into her frustrations, it’s worth noting Vega captured the Women’s United States Championship by defeating Chelsea Green on the April 25, 2025 episode of SmackDown. She held the title for a couple of months before dropping it to Giulia on June 27, 2025. But for Vega, the issue wasn’t the win—it was everything that came after. Vega addressed whether she felt her title reign was successful, making it clear she was far from satisfied with how things unfolded.

“Do I think my run with the US Title was good? Actually, I didn’t like it—I didn’t like it. Because I wanted to do so much more with that. I asked, begged, pleaded, and screamed—I wanted that title to be the workhorse title.”

She then explained exactly what she had in mind for the championship—ideas that never came to life during her run. According to Vega, none of those plans ever materialized, leaving her disappointed with how limited the run ultimately felt.

“I wanted to take that title to Japan, whether Marigold or STARDOM. I wanted to take it to AAA in Mexico. I wanted to actually defend it and just, obviously, get it more seen and known and have this title be what it’s supposed to be. But unfortunately, that never happened. So yeah, no—I didn’t like that.”

The timing of these comments is hard to ignore. With Vega now out of WWE, her remarks read less like a passing critique and more like a clear signal of what she believes her potential—and that title—could have been with a different approach. Now that Zelina Vega is no longer with WWE, the question becomes whether she’ll finally get the chance to execute that “workhorse title” vision somewhere else.

Where do you stand on Zelina Vega’s comments—was her title run mishandled, or was it simply a case of timing not working out? Let me know your thoughts.
