WWE may finally have a date in mind for the John Cena Classic.
Sources indicate to False Finish that WWE is currently looking at December 12 for the event, giving John Cena’s tournament a much clearer spot on the calendar. The location has not been determined yet.
That fits with the timeline WWE had already been working with. PWInsider previously noted that the plan was to run the event after Survivor Series, with one source saying:
“Post-Survivor Series but nothing locked in yet.”
Cena also recently confirmed during an interview with Extra at San Diego Comic-Con that WWE was still working toward getting the event done before the end of 2026.
“What I can tell you is that we’re working towards it, and I cannot tell you how excited I am about the event and what it stands for. I want to do something great for WWE and for the fans toward the end of the calendar year.”
Cena first announced the John Cena Classic at Backlash on May 10. The concept is expected to feature an in-ring competition with fan involvement to crown the first John Cena Classic Champion. Cena has kept the bigger details quiet so far, including the format and who will be involved.
“Man, I wish I could give you spoilers, but I’ve got to be loyal to my company. What I can tell you is we’re working on it, and I’m going to give you my absolute best.”
Nothing is officially locked in yet, but December 12 is now the date WWE is looking at for the John Cena Classic. The location remains TBD, and more details are expected as the company gets closer to the event.
