WWE looks like it is moving forward with Danhausen for Saturday Night’s Main Event after the New York Knicks won the NBA Championship, because he is now featured in the promotional material for the event.

Danhausen became part of the Knicks’ playoff story after “uncursing” the team during their run to the NBA Championship. What started as a wild sports-wrestling crossover turned into a real New York moment after the Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals to end their 53-year title drought.

Before the Knicks won the title, there was talk that WWE had interest in using Danhausen around Madison Square Garden and Fanatics Fest if New York finished the job. Now that the Knicks actually won, the big kicker is that WWE has already put Danhausen on promotional material for Saturday Night’s Main Event.

That changes the whole story. This is not just Danhausen joking online or fans fantasy booking the moment. WWE used him in official event promotion for the July 18 show at Madison Square Garden, leaning into the “uncursed” theme and his entire gimmick to help sell the New York event.

Danhausen also celebrated the Knicks’ championship by taking credit for lifting the curse. He leaned all the way into the bit, calling himself the king of New York and joking that the city now owes him a statue, mural, parade, and his own celebration after the Knicks finally won it all.

WWE has also released Danhausen x New York Knicks merchandise tied to the “uncursed” story, so the company clearly sees value in the crossover. With Saturday Night’s Main Event and Fanatics Fest both happening in New York that same weekend, the timing lines up perfectly.

The important update is simple: the Knicks won, and Danhausen is now on the promotional material for WWE’s Madison Square Garden event. That makes it look like WWE is going forward with the idea after all, and Danhausen may be getting a very New York spotlight after helping turn the Knicks’ title run into a wrestling story.
