WWE Universal Championship Match
(C) Seth Rollins Vs. AJ Styles
After ring introductions, the match gets underway and they engage in an aggressive collar-and-elbow lock-up. Styes forces Seth to the corner and the referee forces the break. Rollins then does the same thing to AJ. Both men looking weirdly alike as they’re wearing black and gold.
Styles takes Rollins down with a headscissors from the mat. They separate and go back in for another lock-up. Rollins whips AJ hard into the corner and follows-up with a knee drop. Styles then dodges Rollins before connecting with a nice dropkick. Styles forces Rolling to the corner and hits some shoulder thrusts.
AJ drops Rollins with a sharp backbreaker. AJ runs at Seth in the corner but gets slammed head-first into the turnbuckles. Seth looks for a suplex on the apron but AJ gets him up for a Styles Clash, Rollins manages to get out and land on his feet but AJ quickly drops him with a knee to the head. AJ gets Rollins back in the ring and drops his neck on the top rope, Rollins uses the momentum to follow-up with a suicide dive. Both mena re down on the outside.
They get back in at 7 but the Champion clotheslines AJ back out right away. Rollins connects with another suicide dive and tosses AJ back into the ring. Seth unloads on AJ and hits a slingblade, followed by a forearm in the corner and a springboard clothesline for a two count. Rollins lands some strikes and looks for the Ripcord Knee but AJ dodges it and hits a fireman’s carry knee. AJ lands a flying forearm in the corner. The two exchange pin attempts until Rollins lifts AJ up and hits the Buckle Bomb, followed by a huge frog splash for a near-fall.
Rollins sets AJ on the top rope but gets kicked off. He then jumps back up, looking for the Falcon Arrow, but AJ slides down between his legs and yanks his leg out to send him into the turnbuckles. AJ follows-up with a German suplex and holds on, looks for a wheelbarrow facebuster but Rollins rolls through for a near-fall. Rollins lifts Styles up in a torture rack, then lands the bomb for a two count.
AJ takes to the apron, looking for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Rollins shoves his feet and he lands on the ropes. Seth gets AJ on the top rope and hits an amazing back superplex into a sit-out back suplex for a near-fall. Both men take their time getting up and AJ surprises Seth with the Calf-Crusher and really cinches it in. Rollins is able to roll out and kick AJ off but he’s hurt. AJ connects with a springboard back DDT for another near-fall. Styles goads Rollins to get up, then runs but the Champion connects with a huge superkick and both men are down again.
They trade shots in the centre of the ring and the fans are split down the middle. Styles gets caught with an enziguiri, then looks for the Pele Kick but nobody’s home. Rollins kicks AJ in the gut and looks for The Stomp but AJ manages to reverse into a Styles Clash…but Seth kicks out! “This is awesome!” Indeed it is. Styles looks for the Phenomenal Forearm but Rollins dodges it and hits the Ripcord Knee. Rollins hits a superkick, followed by The Stomp. Seth crawls over and makes the pin.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Rollins celebrates his huge win after the match. Styles gets to his feet and they have a staredown before shaking hands.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are interviewed backstage. Kofi says he wouldn’t be here were it not for his brothers, so for Owens to attack one of them is not OK. Woods says Kofi needs to stop saying that, because he earned his position all by himself. And tonight he will respect Kofi’s wishes by allowing him to compete one-on-one. Kofi thanks them and says he has to go and prove that tonight is just another day for him to prove himself.
