WWE is dropping another major hint that Lola Vice is finished with NXT and heading to the main roster. The company filed a trademark for “Vice City” on August 4, the same night Vice lost to NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey and delivered what looked like her farewell to the brand.

Vice competed against Grey in an Underground match before addressing the crowd and saying goodbye. She later shared an emotional backstage moment with Damian Priest, adding even more fuel to the belief that her NXT run has reached its end.

Now, WWE has moved to lock down branding tied directly to Vice and her Miami roots. Vice, whose real name is Valerie Loureda, joined WWE after competing for Bellator MMA. She was born in Miami and is of Cuban heritage, making both her ring name and the “Vice City” phrase clear references to her hometown.

The trademark application covers live wrestling performances, television appearances, online content, fan clubs, newsletters and other sports entertainment services. WWE listed the following description in the filing:

“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

WWE has not officially announced that Vice has been called up, but the timing is hard to ignore. She said goodbye to NXT, had an emotional sendoff backstage and now has a fresh trademark connected to her character.

The only question left is whether “Vice City” will become her new nickname, entrance branding or the name of a larger presentation once she arrives on Raw or SmackDown.
