Darci Khan says she wasn’t fooling anyone before she left WWE.

The former Masyn Holiday revealed that by the time she finally decided to walk away from WWE’s developmental system, one of her coaches already knew something was wrong. According to Khan, she had reached a point where she dreaded going to practice and couldn’t hide it anymore.

Khan recently opened up about her departure from WWE and explained that she had been wrestling with the decision to quit for a long time. One day, after praying for strength just to make it through practice, she finally broke down when a coach approached her. Khan recalled walking into practice and immediately being asked what was wrong.

“Like, I walk into practice, my coach comes up to me and she says, what’s wrong, Mason? And you know when you already finna cry. Yeah, it all just came out. And she’s like, you want to talk about it now? Backtrack. I knew that when I was going to quit that I was going to talk to my coach first. So in that moment, I was like, you know what? Yeah, I want to talk about it. I was like, I don’t want to wrestle anymore.”

What came next surprised her. According to Khan, her coach admitted she had been seeing the signs every single day. Instead of trying to convince her to stay, the coach told her something that stuck with her.

“And she was like, honestly, I can see it on your face every day. She said, when you show up, it looks like you have to be here, not that you want to be here. And she was like, in this business, like, you have to love it, you have to want it in your heart.”

That conversation led Khan to speak with head coach Matt Bloom and officially end her WWE run. Khan explained that wrestling demands too much physically and mentally to continue if someone doesn’t truly want it. Taking bumps and risking injury every day while feeling disconnected from the business had become too much for her to carry.

She has repeatedly stressed that she is grateful to WWE and the people who helped her, but she knew staying would have meant wasting everyone’s time, including her own. For Khan, hearing a coach confirm what she had been feeling inside every day was the sign she needed. Instead of pushing through something that no longer fulfilled her, she made the decision to walk away and start a new chapter.
