Stephanie Vaquer’s huge homecoming in Chile wasn’t just another stop on WWE’s schedule — the company was apparently documenting the whole thing before she walked out with the Women’s World Championship.
Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez revealed on September 13 that WWE filmed a mini-documentary centered on Vaquer returning home to Chile. There’s also a chance her title win over Liv Morgan ends up on the WWE Vault YouTube channel. Alvarez wrote:
“WWE shot a mini documentary on Vaquer coming home and may put the title win up on the WWE Vault channel.”
That’s a pretty big clue that WWE knew Vaquer’s trip home was going to be treated as something more than a normal live event appearance.
Vaquer defeated Liv Morgan at WWE’s September 12 show in Santiago, Chile, becoming Women’s World Champion in front of her home-country crowd. Becky Lynch served as special guest referee and blew up Morgan’s apparent victory when she stopped counting at two and flipped her off. Vaquer immediately jumped on the opening, hit the SVB and then the Vaquer Inferno to put Morgan away and start her second reign with the title.
Morgan’s championship run ended at 148 days, but the bigger story now is everything WWE captured around Vaquer’s return. A mini-documentary could give fans footage from before and after the match, including Vaquer arriving back in Chile, the reaction she received throughout the trip and what happened once she finally won the title in front of her own people. And if WWE puts the actual Morgan match on the Vault channel too, fans who only saw clips from the live event could finally get the full championship change.
WWE didn’t just send Stephanie Vaquer home and hand her a huge moment. They had cameras there documenting the ride, and now fans may get to see exactly what went down behind the scenes during one of the biggest nights of her career.
