The Hardys and Team 3D are set to collide in a huge tables match at TNA Bound for Glory, but fans have noticed one thing missing — their legendary WWE names. Despite the WWE and TNA partnership, both teams are sticking with their TNA identities, and now Bully Ray has explained why.

A fan on Twitter asked Bully Ray why he, D-Von, and The Hardys couldn’t use their original WWE tag team names for the event. The fan suggested that WWE’s collaboration with TNA should’ve allowed it and said the companies could benefit from the marketing boost.

“I’m surprised to see you, D-Von and the Hardys still not allowed to go by your original tag team names. I’d have thought WWE’s partnership with TNA would lead them to loosen those reigns a bit; wouldn’t you want your business partner to have that marketing boost?”

Bully Ray quickly shut that idea down, making it clear that this match isn’t about revisiting the past — it’s about honoring their legacy in TNA.

“Team 3D are @ThisIsTNA HOF’ers … Bound for Glory is TNA’s biggest show of the year. No reason for Team 3D to use The Dudley name. Also…WWE has been quite accommodating when it comes to promoting a match in which none of their contracted in ring talent are involved in.”

The explanation makes perfect sense. Bound for Glory is TNA’s marquee event, and Team 3D’s Hall of Fame legacy is tied to that name. Using the Dudley Boyz moniker would have shifted the focus to WWE instead of celebrating what they built in TNA.

Team 3D will face The Hardys at Bound for Glory with both the TNA and NXT Tag Team Titles on the line — a rare interpromotional clash that has the wrestling world watching closely. While the names may be different, the match promises to carry the same intensity and nostalgia that defined their legendary careers.

Bully Ray’s response also showed the growing professionalism between TNA and WWE, with WWE reportedly supporting the event’s promotion even though none of their current talent are directly involved.

Do you agree with Bully Ray’s decision to keep the Team 3D name for Bound for Glory, or do you think they should’ve used The Dudley Boyz one last time? Share your thoughts below.
