Thekla got put in a weird spot during her TMZ’s Inside the Ring interview when her personal life suddenly became part of the conversation.
The hosts brought up Clark Connors and said the two had been together for a couple of years. That question did not land the way they thought it would. Thekla immediately pushed back and asked where that came from.
“Well, I don’t know where you actually picked that up from, that we’re dating. We’re very close.”
The room got awkward fast, and the hosts tried to move off the topic after realizing they may have gone off internet chatter that Thekla was not confirming. When one Branson said he thought he saw it online, Thekla fired back with a simple warning about believing everything people read.
“Oh, did you? Well, name everything you see on the internet.”
After that, they tried to pivot into a broader question about whether wrestlers dating wrestlers is a good idea. Thekla said she is not sure it is always smart, but she understands why it happens since wrestlers live a very strange lifestyle.
“I think I’m not sure if it’s a good idea, per se. Everybody’s good-looking and horny from what I can tell.”
She then explained that dating someone outside wrestling can be hard because normal people do not always understand the travel, schedule, and general madness that comes with the job.
“It’s obviously hard to probably date somebody who isn’t immersed in your world as we live very strange lives as professional wrestlers. So, I wouldn’t want to, you know, it’s hard to explain all that, all the travel and all the horniness.”
Thekla did not confirm anything with Clark Connors. What she did confirm is that she is not about to let a dating rumor get tossed at her without pushing back. It was an awkward moment, but Thekla handled it in classic Thekla fashion: sharp, blunt, and not giving anyone an easy headline without making them work for it.
What do you think about Thekla shutting down the Clark Connors question like that? Was the question fair game, or did TMZ go too far? Leave your thoughts below.
