Why Jordynne Grace Still Hasn’t Made Her WWE TV Return

Jordynne Grace has been missing from WWE television for months, but apparently fans shouldn’t read that as a sign she’s heading out the door. The latest backstage word is much simpler — WWE just doesn’t have a creative spot for her right now.

During a recent WrestleVotes Q&A, JoeyVotes and TC were asked what’s actually going on with Grace and when fans might see her again. Joey said the specific thing he’s heard recently is that Grace simply isn’t included in WWE’s current creative plans.

“The thing that I’ve heard recently is she’s not in the creative plans. That doesn’t mean they don’t want plans for her.”

Joey pointed to just how crowded the women’s side of SmackDown has become. WWE already has several ongoing stories eating up television time, and with the show back to two hours, somebody inevitably gets squeezed out.

“But when you look at where she is on the women’s roster, they’ve got full-blown stories. They’ve got Fatal Influence, Charlotte’s group, Jade Cargill’s group — that’s one story. They’ve got Tiffany with the briefcase. They’ve got Nikki and Paige and Chelsea Green — that’s another story.”

For Joey, Grace’s disappearance isn’t some huge mystery or indication that WWE has suddenly soured on her. He believes it’s basically a numbers problem when WWE only has so much television time to spread around.

“Numbers thing. How many different female stars can you feature on a two-hour SmackDown? Someone can’t always be featured, and she unfortunately falls under that category.”

TC then pushed back on any idea that Grace could be on her way out of WWE. Based on the people he’s spoken with, that’s not the impression he’s getting at all.

“She isn’t on her way out — that’s not the sense based on the people I have spoken to.”

Grace hasn’t exactly been sitting around waiting for the phone to ring, either. She recently spent several weeks secretly preparing for a bodybuilding competition, something TC believes WWE may simply be allowing her to finish before figuring out where she fits next.

“It’s one of those things, like, when you’re done with the bodybuilding, we’ll see where we can plug you in where we might not need you.”

TC also used Johnny Gargano as an example of how quickly things can change in WWE. Gargano went months without much happening before suddenly finding himself right back in the mix once WWE had something for him.

“Look at Johnny Gargano — did nothing for months and then now finds himself in a number one contender’s match, Money in the Bank qualifying match. It happened at a moment’s notice.”

That’s basically how TC sees Grace’s situation playing out as well. She might not have anything waiting for her this week, but that doesn’t mean WWE has given up on finding something.

“I think they still really like her and don’t see her on her way out.”

There had previously been talk about potentially pairing Grace with Ivy Nile, with vignettes filmed for the possible team and the “Iron Built” trademark connected to the idea. Whether WWE still intends to move forward with that direction wasn’t addressed in this latest update.

For now, Grace appears to be stuck in WWE’s numbers game rather than dealing with some bigger backstage problem. She’s not in the current plans, but the latest word is that WWE still likes her and her absence shouldn’t be taken as a sign that she’s preparing to leave.
