WWE’s broadcast plans for Worlds Collide may have changed again. After multiple reports suggested fans at home wouldn’t be able to watch the show live, a new report says the current expectation inside WWE is completely different.
Earlier this week, Fightful Select reported that Worlds Collide was being treated more like a live event than a traditional television production. PWInsider Elite later backed up that report, stating the show was expected to be taped with plans to air it later instead of broadcasting live. There was even speculation that the event could end up on Club WWE or another platform at a later date, although no distribution plan had been officially confirmed.
Now, however, Andrew Baydala is reporting that the current direction appears to have changed. According to Baydala, the people he has spoken to now believe Worlds Collide is expected to stream live on YouTube.
“A quick update on Worlds Collide—those I spoke with yesterday and today are under the impression the show will air LIVE on YouTube. Obviously things can change but, that is the current direction and distribution of that show on Saturday.”
The confusion has been surprising because WWE has loaded the show with major names rather than treating it like a typical live event. WWE already loaded Worlds Collide with major names and during the September 19 episode of AAA on FOX, Rey Mysterio revealed the full card, confirming that CM Punk, Rey Mysterio and AAA Mega Champion El Grande Americano will face Omos, Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh in a six-man tag, on top of more matches.
The event is also scheduled to take place on September 26, the same night AEW presents All Out just a short drive away in the Chicago area. That only made the earlier reports about the show not airing live seem even stranger.
For now, though, it looks like fans watching from home may not have to wait after all. Nothing has been officially announced by WWE yet, but the latest word is that YouTube is currently expected to be the live home for Worlds Collide—assuming plans don’t change again before next Saturday.
