Dragon Lee’s WWE future may not be as uncertain as it first appeared. Even with his current deal nearing its end, a new backstage update suggests nobody inside the company expects him to be packing his bags anytime soon.
Speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro was asked about Dragon Lee’s contract situation and whether WWE should be worried about losing him. Based on what he’s heard, that doesn’t appear to be the expectation.
“I’ll say this. I don’t think he’s going to leave WWE.”
That’s not all, because Self Made Pro then went on to say the indication he’s received is that people within WWE don’t anticipate Lee looking elsewhere once his current contract expires.
“I was given the indication that, like, people don’t anticipate Dragon Lee looking to leave WWE.”
That’s a much different tone than the speculation that picked up after reports noted that both Dragon Lee and his brother, Dralistico, are nearing the end of their current contracts. The brothers also recently filed a trademark for “Hermanos Lee,” leading lots of fans to wonder whether they could be planning something outside WWE.
Earlier reports also suggested WWE had every reason to keep Lee around. During a recent WrestleVotes Q&A, JoeyVotes and TC both said the company views Lee as an important talent, pointing to his recent run alongside AJ Styles, his WrestleMania appearance and WWE’s growing relationship with AAA as reasons they’d want to retain him.
If Self Made Pro’s information is accurate, though, it sounds like there’s far less concern behind the scenes than there is among fans online. Instead of preparing for an exit, the expectation seems to be that Dragon Lee will remain part of WWE’s plans. Nothing has been confirmed when it comes to a new contract, but for now, the latest word points toward Dragon Lee staying put instead of testing free agency.
