Ric Flair’s long-discussed biopic with The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions apparently isn’t dead, and there could finally be some real movement very soon. Flair says he expects to know more about the movie within the next couple of weeks.
Speaking to NewsNation, Flair was asked what’s next for him when he brought up the movie himself. More than two years after the project was first announced, Flair made it clear that Seven Bucks and The Rock are still involved.
“Well, I — we’re hopefully, um, they’re going to make a movie on me. It’s Seven Bucks, The Rock.”
The host was immediately interested, but Flair had an even bigger tease waiting. According to the Nature Boy, they shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to find out where things stand.
“We’ll find out in the next couple of weeks or so.”
There’s still one pretty important piece missing — who exactly is going to play Ric Flair. Nothing has been finalized yet, although Flair revealed that the people behind the movie have already approached more than one potential actor.
“No, not for sure. They’ve asked a couple of guys.”
Flair definitely has somebody in mind, though. When asked who he’d like to see step into those robes, Flair pointed to the star of Extraction.
“I wanted, um, the guy from Extraction.”
The host quickly realized Flair was talking about Chris Hemsworth, and Flair confirmed that’s exactly who he meant: “Yeah. Yeah.” Hemsworth hasn’t been announced for the movie, so there’s no indication that he’s actually attached to play Flair. For now, he’s simply Flair’s personal choice for the role while casting apparently remains unsettled.
The project was originally reported back in February 2024, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia producing through Seven Bucks Productions alongside Kevin Misher of Misher Films. Seven Bucks and Misher previously worked together on Fighting With My Family, which told the story of Saraya and her wrestling family.
Flair was also asked whether the biopic was really still happening after all this time, and he gave a simple answer: “Yes.” Exactly how involved Flair himself will be behind the scenes is another question he can’t answer yet. There is one part of the deal he’s already pretty excited about, though.
“I don’t know what my role will be in it. I just know that if it gets made, I make a lot of money.”
After more than two years without much public movement, Flair suddenly sounds like he expects some answers pretty soon. Whether that’s casting, production plans or something else remains to be seen, but the Nature Boy clearly believes his Hollywood story is still alive — and he wouldn’t mind seeing Chris Hemsworth wearing the robes.
What do you think about Ric Flair teasing a possible biopic update within the next few weeks, and would Chris Hemsworth be a good choice to play the Nature Boy? Let us know in the comments below.
