Russo is joined on today’s show by Big Vito.

Russo opens today’s show by sending his prayers and best wishes to the family and friends of Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan, who passed away on Sunday. Russo says that Heenan is undoubtably one of the greatest Managers, announcers, and on-screen personalities of all time, and he will be sorely missed.

Russo recalls working with Heenan during his time in WCW. He says that at that time, there were some rumblings backstage that Heenan’s drinking was beginning to affect his performance on screen, and people were starting to call for his job. Russo went to bat for Heenan in those discussions but shortly after Russo was sent home, Heenan was replaced at the commentary booth by Mark Madden.

For a long period of time Heenan had heat with Russo because he was under the impression that Russo was the reason he was let go from WCW. In reality, Russo wasn’t even present within the company at that time. Years later, Russo wanted to bury the hatchet with Heenan and make it known to him that he wasn’t the reason Heenan was let go from WCW.
