Zayda Steel is getting more opportunities on AEW television, but that doesn’t mean life suddenly became luxurious. The rising wrestler recently revealed that she’s currently “technically homeless,” explaining that she’s constantly on the road and doesn’t have a permanent place to call home.

Speaking with MuscleManMalcolm, Steel explained that wrestling has kept her moving so much that settling down just isn’t possible right now. Instead, she bounces between hotels, friends’ houses and wherever her next booking takes her. She also made it clear that she isn’t struggling financially—she simply doesn’t have a home base at the moment.

“Life has been, you know, like—put it this way, I actually don’t—I’m technically homeless. I don’t, like, actually have a home base. So, I just bounce from hotel to hotel to friends’ houses, and cuz I can’t settle down. I’m moving. True. I’m busy. But I am, like—I’m not trying to be funny. Like, I am technically homeless right now. But I have—I’m not broke. I’m just homeless.”

Later in the interview, the conversation turned to her travel routine. After joking about buying her a better car, Steel admitted that she sometimes ends up living out of it while she’s on the road.

“I genuinely live out of my car sometimes. I’m a TV wrestler now, but, like, I still want to live in my car.”

Steel’s comments just show that getting TV time doesn’t automatically mean a wrestler has everything figured out behind the scenes. For many wrestlers trying to establish themselves, life is still a constant cycle of traveling, finding places to stay and chasing the next opportunity, even after making it onto a national stage.

Were you surprised to hear that an AEW talent is still living this way? Do stories like Zayda Steel’s show how difficult it can be to build a career in pro wrestling, even after reaching TV? Sound off in the comments.
