Velveteen Dream is back in the conversation, and Patrick Clark is taking that comeback to Ukraine.
The former WWE Superstar resurfaced in a new Instagram promo ahead of his June 6 match for the Varia Intercontinental Championship, making it clear he sees this as more than just another indie booking. Clark said he is coming to Ukraine for a championship, a second chance, and the opportunity to proudly represent Ukraine and the rest of the world.
Clark has been mostly quiet since November 2025, when he appeared at Maryland Championship Wrestling and beat Javari Wolf before JBL suddenly stormed the ring and dropped him with a Clothesline from Hell. Since then, there hasn’t been much movement from the former NXT standout.
Now, Clark is back with a promo built around one message — Velveteen Dream is returning, but Patrick Clark is trying to prove he can be better than the man fans remember. Clark opened by saying wrestling loves a success story, but the people who fall apart are usually forgotten.
“Professional wrestling is full of success stories, but failures. People barely remember those. And even fewer remember the ones who find the strength to come back.”
He admitted he wasn’t perfect, while also saying he is not the person many people believe him to be.
“I wasn’t perfect, but I’m not the person many people think I am, either. I’m just a guy from the States with a dream. A guy who once had a crown dropped on his head before he was ready to carry it. And when everything fell apart, a lot of people decided the story was over.”
Clark then made it clear that he is going to Ukraine to fight for gold and step back into the spotlight as a different man.
“But here I am, coming to Ukraine, fighting for a championship again after all these years, and that’s my choice. My choice to step back into the spotlight before a different man.”
The biggest part of the promo came when Clark said directly that Velveteen Dream is back, but not because he is trying to convince people in power to trust him again.
“I’m here to prove that the Velveteen Dream is back. And not to prove people on top that I can be trusted again, but to prove to myself that Patrick Clark can be better than he once was. That this Velveteen, this Patrick, will not blow his chance.”
Clark’s opponent will be decided in a gauntlet match, but he said it does not matter who wins because his focus is on June 6 and what the match means for his future.
“My opponent will be decided in a gauntlet match, and I’m fine with that. Because it doesn’t matter who wins. It doesn’t matter who steps into the ring against me on June 6th. Because I’m not walking into that match as a man trying to reclaim his past. Oh, no, I’m walking into it as a man fighting for the future.”
Then Clark put the Ukraine angle front and center, saying he wants to become a champion worthy of representing the country, Varia, and the rest of the world.
“The future of professional wrestling in a country that gave me a second chance, the future of Varia, to become a champion worthy of carrying that responsibility and to proudly represent Ukraine and the rest of the world.”
Clark closed the promo by saying he is ready to fight in a way fans have never seen from Velveteen Dream before.
“And if that means I have to fight in a way Velveteen Dream has never fought before, then I will. Because the time of Velveteen Dream is over, and the time of Patrick Clark is now.”
Clark was once one of WWE NXT’s biggest breakout names before his release in May 2021. His exit came after allegations that he sent inappropriate messages and photos to people who claimed to be underage. Clark denied the allegations and later issued a public apology in 2024 to his family, WWE, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Ashante “Thee” Adonis.
Now, he’s putting the Velveteen Dream name back out there, heading to Ukraine for a championship match, and saying he wants to carry that title as someone worthy of representing Ukraine and Varia on a bigger stage.
Whether fans buy into Patrick Clark’s comeback remains to be seen, but he’s not hiding from the spotlight anymore. On June 6, he gets his chance to prove that Velveteen Dream is truly back — and that this time, he won’t blow it.
