Jacob Fatu’s Clash in Italy status is still a major question, but WWE is apparently hopeful he’ll be ready in time.
According to Cory Hays of False Finish, WWE is currently operating under the belief that Fatu will be fine by Sunday. However, the company is also looking into possible backup plans in case he is not cleared for the show.
“They are under the assumption that Jacob will be fine by Sunday. In the case that Fatu is not fine, WWE is currently looking into potential pivots.”
Thais comes after PWInsider reported that Fatu was legitimately hurt during WWE’s live event in Liverpool after his match against Solo Sikoa. He had already been seen limping backstage following the Liverpool Street Fight, and the injury was later said to be more than just routine selling. PWInsider previously noted that Fatu was seen limping after the bout, though at first there was no confirmation on whether he was selling or actually hurt.
“Jacob Fatu was seen limping last night after his bout with Solo Sikoa at the WWE live event in Liverpool. We have not yet heard whether he was just selling or not.”
The timing is a big deal because Fatu is scheduled to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE World Championship at Clash in Italy on May 31. With the event so close, even a minor injury could force WWE to think fast. For now, there is no official change to the match. WWE seems to be preparing for both outcomes: Fatu making it to Turin as planned, or the company needing a late pivot if he can’t go.
Jacob Fatu’s health is now one of the biggest stories heading into Clash in Italy. If he is cleared, the Roman Reigns title match stays intact. If not, WWE may have to make a last-minute move for one of the show’s biggest matches.
