The Undertaker got dragged into a political controversy this week after a Twitter account falsely claimed the WWE legend publicly called Israel a “bastard state founded on blood and lies.”
The post quickly spread on Twitter after the account alleged Undertaker had made the following statement: “Israel is a bastard state founded on blood and lies. There is no justice or peace for child killers.”
The problem? There appears to be no evidence that Undertaker ever said any of it. Not long after the post started circulating, former WWE star Val Venis jumped in publicly to shut the rumor down and defend Undertaker from the claim. According to Venis, the entire story made no sense because Undertaker has spent decades avoiding controversial political debates publicly.
“This is complete nonsense! There is zero chance The Undertaker said this about Israel.”
Venis then explained why he believes the claim is completely inconsistent with Undertaker’s public personality. He then pointed out that Undertaker has historically avoided stepping into polarizing political situations entirely.
“Even if he privately held a strong opinion on the topic, he has never shown any interest in diving into such a heated, controversial political issue publicly. Undertaker has always been careful to avoid stepping into major political minefields like this.”
The rumor immediately caught attention because Undertaker rarely comments publicly on political issues at all. Outside of appearing in promotional material supporting Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election cycle, the WWE Hall of Famer has generally kept his political opinions private throughout his wrestling career.
At this point, there is no verified interview, video, audio clip, or credible source connecting Undertaker to the statement. Still, the situation once again shows how quickly fake celebrity quotes can explode online once major public figures get attached to politically charged topics.
Do you think social media platforms are doing enough to stop fake celebrity quotes from spreading online, or has it become almost impossible to control at this point? Leave your thoughts and feedback below.
