Val Venis saw an old clip of Benjamin Netanyahu discussing the threat of militant Islam and came away with a very different explanation for September 11. The former WWE star used it to push a conspiracy theory about who was actually responsible for the attacks.
On September 12, Venis reacted on Twitter to an old video of Netanyahu in which the Israeli leader was quoted as saying that he had warned in 1995 that militant Islam could bring down the World Trade Center. Venis responded by accusing the CIA and Israel’s Mossad of carrying out the September 11 attacks and blaming Muslims afterwards.

Of course, Venis provided no evidence to support that allegation. The claim that the CIA and Mossad carried out 9/11 is a conspiracy theory and contradicts the established findings of investigations into the attacks.
The September 11 attacks were carried out by 19 hijackers associated with al-Qaeda. The 9/11 Commission concluded that the plot was developed by al-Qaeda under Osama bin Laden, with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed serving as its principal architect.
Venis’ post also comes as another former WWE wrestler, Lars Sullivan, has been making his own controversial comments about September 11 and Islam. Sullivan recently reacted to the cancellation of a planned 9/11 memorial flyover in Denver by blaming “snowflake democrats” and suggesting they didn’t want people reminded about the ideology of the attackers.
“Sounds like snowflake democrats who don’t want people to be reminded that radical Islam committed 9/11.”
So two former WWE stars are now using 9/11 to push completely different narratives. Sullivan is pointing directly at extremist Islam, while Venis is claiming al-Qaeda was blamed for something actually carried out by the CIA and Mossad.
Venis can make that accusation online, but the Netanyahu clip doesn’t establish what he claims it does. One old video was enough for him to revive a decades-old 9/11 conspiracy theory, but he didn’t provide any evidence to go with it.
