Lars Sullivan saw a story about a canceled 9/11 memorial flyover and immediately turned it political. The former WWE star blamed “snowflake democrats,” claiming they don’t want people reminded that Islamist extremists carried out the September 11 attacks.
The comment came on September 10 after Sullivan responded to a lengthy post about a planned flyover in Denver. A United Airlines Boeing 777 was supposed to be accompanied by F-16s over the city at approximately 9:03 AM, but United canceled the plan after members of the community raised concerns.
The original poster actually supported commemorating September 11 and had been at Ground Zero shortly before the attacks and returned about a week afterwards. Their issue was specifically with the idea of putting a large passenger jet and fighter aircraft over a major American city on the morning of September 11. Sullivan had a much different explanation for why people objected and he made it clear that he believes people should know that radical Islam committed 9/11.

The September 11 attacks were carried out by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists motivated by an extremist Islamist ideology. Nothing in the post Sullivan responded to, however, suggested the flyover was canceled because people wanted to avoid acknowledging who carried out the attacks.
His response comes during a run of inflammatory posts about Islam. Sullivan recently declared that it was “ok to be islamophobic” while inserting himself into the backlash surrounding Dustin Rhodes, who had apologized after reacting to an anti-Islam post and said he hadn’t properly read its caption.
Sullivan followed that by sharing a graphic making sweeping claims about Muslim immigration and portraying Muslim-majority populations as inevitably leading to Sharia law, militancy and violence against non-Muslims. He provided no evidence for those broader claims.
This time, Sullivan didn’t need another wrestler’s controversy to get involved. A memorial flyover was canceled because people questioned whether recreating the sight and sound of a passenger jet alongside military aircraft was appropriate on September 11, and Sullivan decided the real problem was “snowflake democrats.”
