Tyler Breeze has finally put an exact date on the end of his WWE contract. After 16 years connected to the company, Breeze says his unusual agreement expired at the start of August 2026.
Breeze revealed the timeline during a conversation with The Certified Mark Show. He was asked whether he would join AEW if Tony Khan called, and his answer quickly opened the door to the truth about his WWE status. Breeze didn’t hesitate when asked about AEW. He said he would be interested before revealing that nothing in his former WWE agreement is holding him back anymore.
“One hundred percent. I’ve said it a bunch. This is the crazy part—my contract technically ended at the start of August. I was with WWE for 16 years, so I had a really cool deal.”
WWE released Breeze from its active roster in June 2021, but that wasn’t the complete end of his working relationship with the company. He remained involved with UpUpDownDown, appeared at NXT Homecoming and also worked behind the scenes as a coach. Breeze explained that WWE gave him a rare agreement that allowed him to continue working with the company while wrestling independently and taking outside opportunities.
“The deal that just ended in August, I was able to do WWE stuff, I was able to do independents, I was able to kind of do third-party stuff. I was able to do all this stuff. It was a one-of-a-kind deal that was never seen before and will never be seen again.”
Breeze credited people inside WWE with getting the unusual contract approved. He also made it clear that he doesn’t believe the company will ever offer another deal like it.
“I had great people in great positions who got that deal for me. Again, it’ll never be done again.”
The comments explain why there was so much confusion surrounding Breeze’s WWE status. On September 1, 2026, someone on social media claimed Breeze was still under WWE contract. Breeze immediately corrected the claim.
“No he’s not.”
Breeze has now confirmed that he technically remained under contract until the start of August, despite not being a regular member of WWE’s active roster. That agreement is finished, and he says he no longer has restrictions preventing him from working for another televised wrestling promotion.
Breeze is open to AEW, TNA, Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling and other companies outside WWE. He also made it clear that he is not retired and still wants to wrestle. For the first time since his 2021 release, Tyler Breeze appears to be completely free from WWE. His special deal kept him connected to the company for another five years, but Tony Khan or another promoter can now make Prince Pretty an offer without any contractual roadblocks.
