Tony Khan has finally addressed the Sammy Guevara speculation that spread across wrestling social media this week—and he doesn’t understand why it became a story in the first place.

Speaking during the AEW Redemption media call, Tony Khan was asked by Dave Meltzer about AEW’s interest in free agents before the conversation turned to Guevara, Anna Jay and Tay Melo.

Responding to the rumors surrounding Guevara after the Spanish God tweeted, “New bio,” Khan said he was surprised so many people assumed something had changed simply because the former TNT Champion updated his social media profile.

According to Khan, fans reached a conclusion before they knew the full story. Khan said it was unusual that people believed Guevara’s status had changed simply because he updated his bio, adding that people “jumped to conclusions without having the full story.”

His comments come after days of online speculation that Guevara had quietly removed AEW from his Twitter profile, leading some fans to believe he wanted out of the company or had already secured his release. However, Bryan Alvarez reported that the entire rumor was based on a false assumption.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Alvarez said Guevara’s tweet telling fans he had a “new bio” prompted people to check his profile. When they didn’t see AEW listed, they assumed he had removed it—even though Alvarez said he had been told AEW was never in Guevara’s bio to begin with.

That misunderstanding quickly snowballed into rumors that Guevara’s AEW future had changed, despite there being no actual change behind the scenes.

With Khan now publicly weighing in, AEW’s president has echoed the same basic message: the speculation wasn’t driven by any change in Guevara’s status, but by fans drawing conclusions from a social media update without knowing the full context.

Do you think Tony Khan’s comments will finally put the Sammy Guevara rumors to rest, or do you still think there’s more to the story? Let us know in the comments below.
