TNA Lockdown 2026 now has its main event locked in, as the company revealed during the kickoff show that The Hardys will defend the TNA World Tag Team Championships against Nic and Ryan Nemeth inside a steel cage to close out the night in Chicago.

Matt and Jeff Hardy have been battling with the Nemeth brothers for months, and TNA is giving their rivalry the biggest spot possible at Credit Union 1 Arena on August 23.

The championship match will go on last, meaning either The Hardys will leave Lockdown standing tall with the titles still around their waists or Nic and Ryan Nemeth will end the show by taking the championships from them.

The match already had plenty riding on it before the main event announcement. The two teams have been locked in a bitter feud, and putting them inside a steel cage was designed to finally settle things without anyone having an easy way out. Now they also have the responsibility of closing one of TNA’s biggest events of the year.

The announcement came during the Lockdown kickoff show, where TNA also confirmed that Elijah vs. AJ Francis in The Final Encore Steel Cage Match would open the main card. That gives the show a cage fight at both ends, with Elijah and Francis starting things off before The Hardys and The Nemeths get the final word.

Lockdown also features Cedric Alexander defending the X-Division Championship against Leon Slater, Xia Brookside defending the Knockouts World Championship against Elayna Black inside a cage and Jason Hotch putting the TNA International Championship on the line against Mustafa Ali.

Lethal Lockdown is also back for the first time in nearly a decade, with The System facing KC Navarro, Ricky Sosa, Fabian Aichner and Jada Stone.

Still, the final spotlight belongs to The Hardys and The Nemeths. TNA had plenty of options to close Lockdown, but the company chose the World Tag Team Championship feud to send the Chicago crowd home.

Do you think The Hardys vs. The Nemeths is the right match to close TNA Lockdown 2026, and who should leave Chicago with the tag team titles? Let us know what you think in the comments.
