TNA may be losing people left and right, but the company is apparently trying to build something bigger behind the scenes.

According to PWInsider, TNA and Ohio Valley Wrestling are working toward a deal that would basically make OVW a developmental system for TNA. The agreement is expected to be signed very soon.

“TNA and Ohio Valley Wrestling are circling a working relationship, PWInsider.com can confirm. We are told the two sides are working towards an agreement that would OVW become what would be essentially a developmental system for TNA.  That agreement is set to be signed very soon.”

That’s a pretty big move, especially with everything else going on in TNA right now. Tommy Dreamer is out as head of creative, Delirious is reportedly taking over as the main creative voice, and Sami Callihan has also parted ways with the company after working backstage as a producer.

TNA has also seen several talent exits lately, including Tessa Blanchard, Steve Maclin, Myla Grace and Dani Luna. With Slammiversary coming up, the company is clearly in the middle of a major reset and it’s not hard to see why.

That’s where OVW could come in. OVW has a long history as a training ground, and if this deal gets signed, TNA would suddenly have something closer to a real developmental pipeline instead of just pulling talent from wherever it can.

PWInsider also noted that TNA President Carlos Silva has been seen at multiple OVW events, so this does not sound like something that came out of nowhere. Silva was also expected at OVW’s 1,400th TV episode celebration, though he did not end up attending.

“TNA President Carlos Silva has been in attendance at a number of OVW events, according to sources within OVW. He was expected at the promotion’s recent 1400th TV episode celebration but was not in attendance.”

Bottom line, TNA’s backstage situation looks messy right now, but the OVW deal could be a sign the company is trying to think long-term. They may be losing familiar names, but they could be getting a new system to build the next ones.
