WWE announced three matches for next week during WWE NXT on September 1, 2026. The September 8 episode will feature two championship matches and a six-man tag team match connected to Grayson Waller’s NXT Championship.
New NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan will defend her title against Jaida Parker. The match was set after Jordan entered the ring to celebrate beating Kendal Grey at Heatwave. Jordan bragged about winning the NXT Women’s Championship on her first attempt and claimed nobody on the roster could outperform her. Parker interrupted and reminded Jordan that she had already beaten her before challenging the new champion to fight her that night. Jordan refused to put the title on the line immediately but accepted Parker’s challenge for next week.
Jackson Drake will also defend the NXT North American Championship against Tavion Heights. Heights confronted The Vanity Project backstage after addressing Myles Borne’s attack at Heatwave. Heights said he was still angry about losing the NXT Tag Team Titles and being betrayed by someone he considered his best friend. When Drake attempted to dismiss Heights’ championship history, Heights challenged him for the North American Title. Drake accepted the challenge and promised to teach Heights a lesson.
The third match came together during Grayson Waller’s NXT Championship celebration. Saquon Shugars, Cruz Montana, EK Prosper, Mason Rook, former champion Tony D’Angelo and Keanu Carver all confronted Waller and demanded an opportunity at his title.
Carver proposed putting the six contenders into a six-man tag team match next week. The three members of the winning team will then face each other in a Triple Threat Match the following week, with the winner becoming the number-one contender to Waller’s championship. Robert Stone approved the plan before a massive brawl broke out inside the ring. WWE did not identify the team combinations before the broadcast ended.

- NXT Women’s Championship: Kelani Jordan vs. Jaida Parker
- NXT North American Championship: Jackson Drake vs. Tavion Heights
- Six-Man Tag Team Match: Saquon Shugars, Cruz Montana, EK Prosper, Mason Rook, Tony D’Angelo and Keanu Carver will compete, with the teams still to be announced
WWE is wasting no time putting its new champions to work. Jordan and Drake will both defend titles they won at Heatwave, while six men begin fighting for the right to challenge Waller.
