Tessa Blanchard’s TNA exit just got another key update, and this one makes it clear she still had a lot of time left on her deal.
According to Fightful Select, sources familiar with the situation claimed Blanchard was under a three-year contract with TNA, but the company ended up letting her out of the deal around the halfway point.
“Sources familiar to the situation claimed that Blanchard was under a three year deal with TNA, so they ended up letting her out about halfway through the contract.”
That detail matters because this was not a short deal that simply expired. Blanchard still had roughly half of her contract left when TNA let her out early. Fightful also noted that some fans had brought up MLW as a possible landing spot, but that does not appear to be anything active right now.
“There were commenters mentioning MLW as a possibility, but we’re told as of now, they haven’t had contact with Blanchard and haven’t in years.”
That knocks down at least one piece of speculation for the moment. As of now, MLW is not believed to be in contact with Blanchard, despite fans throwing the idea around online.
The bigger picture is still messy. Blanchard’s TNA exit has already been tied to her CMLL work, with previous reporting stating that TNA had looked into reworking her deal and offering more money because CMLL was booking her and paying her more. The issue was that a new TNA deal would have prevented her from continuing with CMLL.
Blanchard has also said that when she first signed with TNA, the understanding was that she would still be able to work in Mexico for CMLL while also being part of TNA. She said that setup worked for a while before leadership, partnerships, network deals, and the company’s direction changed.
Dave Meltzer previously noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Blanchard may have been caught in the larger promotional battle in Mexico, with WWE now owning AAA and TNA working with WWE. That apparently complicated her CMLL connection.
So this latest update adds another layer to the story. Tessa Blanchard was not simply at the end of her deal. TNA let her out early while she still had major time left, and for now, MLW is not in the picture.
