Ted DiBiase Jr. may not have been part of WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 42, but he still managed to become part of the conversation after a viral moment involving Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes during WrestleMania weekend.
While speaking to Clay Edwards, DiBiase reflected on attending WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas. He said the experience felt surreal, especially after being welcomed by fans during signings.
“Man, I tell you, it’s surreal thinking back. I recently went to Vegas for WrestleMania, and it was—I got a great welcome. I did some signings and stuff, got to see the fans.”
DiBiase then explained that he bought his own ticket to the show and walked closer to the ring to see his former Legacy partners, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
“But being in there, I bought tickets to the show, even walked down to the ring and just got a closer look at my former tag partners and Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.”
That moment quickly spread online, with some fans thinking WWE security had to stop him from getting involved. DiBiase then admitted he acted on his own and created the moment without WWE planning it.
“That went nuclear viral. I mean, millions and millions of views. It was insane. So they’re like, ‘Yeah, the security had to hold Ted DiBiase back from getting in the ring.’ I went into business for myself a little.”
That lines up with previous reporting from Fightful Select, which stated WWE never seriously considered bringing DiBiase into the Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton storyline despite their Legacy history.
DiBiase was in Las Vegas for WrestleCon, not as an invited WWE guest. Still, his decision to move closer to the ring during WrestleMania created a viral moment and briefly had fans wondering if a Legacy reunion was about to happen. For now, DiBiase’s comments make it clear the moment was spontaneous, not scripted. WWE may not have planned to use him, but he still found a way to get people talking.
