Steve Maclin has surfaced following his TNA departure, and his next stop is Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling.
Maclin appeared at the MLP television taping in Windsor on August 7, immediately getting involved in multiple matches and angles. He first faced Psycho Mike and picked up the victory before later returning to interrupt commentary on camera. His night didn’t end there.
Maclin later faced Rhino and attacked him on the way to the ring before the match even started. Things eventually got out of control, with Maclin getting disqualified before continuing the assault after the bell. Maclin also took out the referee and a doctor during the chaos before finishing Rhino off with a con-chair-to.
The angle could be setting up something much bigger for Maclin in MLP. Adam Copeland is scheduled for the promotion’s Northern Rising event, making a potential Maclin vs. Copeland match an obvious possibility coming out of the attack.
Maclin became a free agent after leaving TNA in June and had recently been stripped of the Boca Raton Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship after announcing he would not appear at the promotion’s August 16 Summer Smash event.
There had also been preliminary contact between Maclin and AEW following his TNA exit, but his appearance in Windsor now confirms that MLP is at least part of his immediate post-TNA plans. Maclin certainly didn’t ease his way into the promotion. He won a match, caused trouble on commentary and left Rhino laid out by the end of the taping.
