SmackDown is getting even more stacked, as WWE is expected to add another championship match to tonight’s lineup.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, R-Truth and Damian Priest are set to defend the World Tag Team Championships against JC Cobb and Tama Tonga of the MFTs. The match has not been officially announced by WWE yet, but the expectation is that confirmation will come soon.
The report made it clear that this title match is already planned internally. This match marks a major opportunity for the MFTs faction, which has been gaining momentum on SmackDown under the leadership of Solo Sikoa. Tama Tonga and JC Cobb stepping into a tag title match signals that the group’s influence on the blue brand continues to grow.
Jacob Fatu is also scheduled to appear on this week’s SmackDown, adding even more presence from the MFTs and strengthening the faction’s presence on the show.
The tag title bout adds to what is already shaping up to be a packed night. WWE has also confirmed a WWE Women’s United States Championship match between Giulia and Tiffany Stratton. Stratton earned her title opportunity last week after defeating Jordynne Grace to become the number one contender.
Rhea Ripley and Trick Williams are also advertised for appearances, making tonight’s show one of the most loaded SmackDown cards since WrestleMania 42 fallout began.
