WrestleVotes even suggested another potential scenario that could see WWE and AEW going head-to-head once again, making it clear that nothing is off the table.
“Are they going to add a Worlds Collide in the Greater Phoenix Arena on the night of Full Gear? Could be.”
According to WrestleVotes, Ospreay’s comments didn’t discourage WWE at all. Instead, the company’s reported response has simply been to keep moving forward with the same strategy.
“This isn’t stopping. So their reaction to Will Ospreay saying, ‘Never step up to us again,’ their reaction is, ‘Well, we’re going to, time and time again.’”
Ospreay made those comments after defeating Jon Moxley to retain the AEW World Championship at All Out. Speaking both to the live crowd after the pay-per-view and later during the post-show media scrum, he praised fans for choosing AEW over the competing Worlds Collide event before declaring that anyone who tried to go head-to-head with AEW would get knocked “two f**king levels” down.
If this report is accurate, WWE isn’t taking that as a warning. Instead, it sounds like the company is prepared to continue scheduling shows opposite AEW whenever it sees fit, making this latest battle far from the last.
