Sol Ruca may have had Triple H in her corner after losing the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, but a new backstage report claims not everyone inside WWE shared that confidence.
Speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro claimed some people backstage weren’t impressed after finally getting an extended look at Ruca in a WWE ring, adding that many of them hadn’t really seen her work until she started making appearances on the main roster.
“I can tell you for a fact that they weren’t in love with what they saw from her in the ring. There are some wrestlers in NXT that some of these people in Gorilla don’t get a look at until they’re invited for a cameo appearance on the main roster. That’s what I’m saying. They don’t really get a look at some of these people until the Main Event tapings or when they make an appearance in a match on Raw or SmackDown. And in the case of Sol Ruca, some of these people didn’t get a look at her until those appearances on SmackDown and the John Cena retirement show.”
That report paints a very different picture from the one Ruca recently described herself. After dropping the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Raquel Rodriguez on RAW, Ruca revealed that Triple H sought her out backstage because he didn’t want her thinking the loss reflected how WWE viewed her.
“Triple H came to me after the match and was like, ‘Hey, this isn’t because you’re doing anything wrong, but you just gotta be a babyface and keep going and see what the next thing is.'”
Ruca also made it clear she doesn’t think Rodriguez won the championship on her own. That’s why she’s already calling for another shot
“You know, I am upset about the loss. However, I do want to congratulate Raquel, but the thing is, she did not beat me. The Judgment Day beat me, sure, but it was a numbers game. If she wants to run it back, I’m fine, but it’s gonna be one-on-one.”
Triple H’s message to Ruca was that the title loss wasn’t about her performance. But the latest report suggests some influential opinions backstage may not have been nearly as positive after Ruca’s recent performances on the main roster.
