Losing the Women’s Intercontinental Championship was disappointing enough for Sol Ruca. Then Triple H came looking for her. Instead of letting the former champion walk away wondering what went wrong, WWE’s Chief Content Officer pulled Ruca aside backstage after RAW and made one thing crystal clear: losing the title wasn’t a sign the company had lost faith in her.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Ruca revealed that Triple H personally reassured her after the match and encouraged her to stay the course.
“Triple H came to me after the match and was like, ‘Hey, this isn’t because you’re doing anything wrong, but you just gotta be a babyface and keep going and see what the next thing is.'”
That conversation clearly stuck with her. It also came after a loss Ruca still doesn’t think was completely fair. While she congratulated Raquel Rodriguez on becoming the new Women’s Intercontinental Champion, she made it clear she doesn’t believe Rodriguez beat her on her own.
“You know, I am upset about the loss. However, I do want to congratulate Raquel, but the thing is, she did not beat me. The Judgment Day beat me, sure, but it was a numbers game.”
That’s why Ruca already wants another shot. Not with Judgment Day lurking at ringside. Not with outside interference deciding the finish. Just one-on-one.
“If she wants to run it back, I’m fine, but it’s gonna be one-on-one.”
She even joked that if anyone deserves credit for the title change, the championship should be split between everyone who helped make it happen.
“At this point, they have to chop up the title three ways because they were all responsible for me losing.”
Ruca’s reign may have ended quicker than she hoped, but Triple H’s backstage message suggests WWE still sees plenty of value in the former champion. Now the only question is whether she’ll get the one-on-one rematch she’s already asking for.
