Scott Steiner’s son Brock Rechsteiner has been suspended for the first six games of the 2026 NFL season, and the length of the punishment is already raising questions about what may have happened behind the scenes.
The NFL has not announced why the New Orleans Saints wide receiver was suspended. However, a six-game ban can be issued under the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy when a player attempts to manipulate or interfere with a test result. A standard first offense for using a banned performance-enhancing substance begins with a four-game suspension.
That does not confirm Rechsteiner violated the PED policy. Until the NFL, the Saints or Rechsteiner provides an explanation, the reason for his punishment remains unknown. NFL insider Adam Schefter confirmed that Rechsteiner will still be allowed to participate in training camp and all three preseason games. His suspension will not begin until teams reduce their rosters to 53 players on August 30.

Rechsteiner already faced an uphill battle to make the Saints’ regular-season roster. He signed with New Orleans after earning an opportunity through an undrafted free-agent tryout and was viewed as a long shot to survive the final cuts.
The suspension does not completely kill his chances. Rechsteiner can still compete throughout camp and the preseason, giving the Saints time to evaluate whether he deserves a place on the 90-man offseason roster or a future spot on the practice squad.
New Orleans also has some room to let the situation play out. The Saints recently lost Bryan Bresee to season-ending knee surgery, while Ja’Lynn Polk unexpectedly retired. The team could release Rechsteiner, but it may decide there is no reason to rush that decision while roster spots remain available.
Rechsteiner is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner and the cousin of current WWE star Bron Breakker. Now, instead of his famous wrestling family being the main story, the mystery surrounding his six-game suspension has taken over.
The six-game length naturally opens the door to PED-test speculation, but there is still no confirmation that the NFL’s drug policy caused the suspension. Rechsteiner will have the preseason to prove he belongs while waiting for the real reason behind the punishment to come out.
