Scott D’Amore didn’t stay unemployed for long after leaving TNA—because two of wrestling’s biggest companies were already reaching out.
Speaking with Ariel Helwani, D’Amore revealed that both AEW and WWE contacted him after his shocking departure from TNA in 2024. While nothing ultimately came together, D’Amore admitted he had conversations with people from both companies as he figured out what he wanted to do next.
When Helwani asked if AEW or WWE had approached him, D’Amore immediately pointed to his relationship with Tony Khan.
“I have a great relationship with Tony Khan. He reached out right away. The outpouring I got from people was truly touching. You know, we talked. I don’t wanna ever close the door on anything.”
D’Amore then revealed that one of the very first messages he received after announcing his departure came from someone on the other side of the wrestling war—WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H.
“Actually, one of the very first things to text me when I posted the news—the screen was full of messages, including one from Triple H, where he said, ‘Are you okay?'”
Despite hearing from both sides, D’Amore said he wasn’t ready to jump straight back into another full-time executive role. After years of running TNA, he wanted to make sure his next move actually fit the life he wanted to live.
“So yeah, I had discussions, but at this point in my life, something has to fit in the right mix for me. I wasn’t even sure what I wanted when I talked to people. I know I don’t want to jump back in where I was in TNA, where it consumed my whole life, but I love wrestling and want to continue.”
Even though he ultimately didn’t join either company, D’Amore admitted he has remained interested in what WWE is building, revealing that he recently got his first look inside the WWE Performance Center.
“I finally got to see the Performance Center in Orlando. It was awesome.”
D’Amore has since launched Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, marking his return to promoting under his own banner. Still, his latest comments confirm that both Tony Khan and Triple H made sure the door was open after his TNA exit—even if the timing ultimately wasn’t right.
