Joey Ryan is once again at the center of controversy—this time after claiming he was never accused of grooming anyone, leading to a Roxanne Perez tweet resurfacing.

After previously speaking out about cancel culture and defending himself in multiple interviews after being called out over a number of sexual misconduct allegations, Joey Ryan took to Twitter and made a very direct statement about the allegations tied to his past.

“Nobody has ever accused me of grooming.”

That line didn’t sit for long. Shortly after Ryan posted it, a fan responded by bringing up an older 2020 tweet from Roxanne Perez — and it directly contradicts what Ryan claimed.

“Interesting @JoeyRyanOnline, very interesting.... This sounds a lot like grooming to me dumbass”

The fan didn’t stop there. They also resurfaced Perez’s longer statement from the time, where she detailed her own experiences and explained why she felt uncomfortable around Ryan. In her tweet, Perez described interactions that raised concerns for her, including comments Ryan allegedly made when she was underage.

“I assumed it was common knowledge for a 40 year old man to not flirt with someone underaged, but obviously not. The first uncomfortable comment he made to me at a show was ‘I feel so bad for flirting with you’… He replied ‘I feel so bad for flirting with you because you’re 17. I could be your dad.’ and he laughed.”

She went on to describe another situation after she turned 18, saying she felt pressured into giving him a ride and uncomfortable during the interaction.

“During the mostly quiet and uncomfortable car ride he asked for a piece of gum and said ‘You know, incase you want to make out.’ I brushed it off with an awkward laugh… As I pulled up to his hotel he asked if I wanted to get down and I denied. He said ‘Well it was worth a shot.’”

Perez made it clear in that same statement that what she initially tried to dismiss as jokes took on a different meaning once more allegations surfaced.

“Seeing the stories that have came up made me realize that these were not jokes, but ways to try and abuse his position of power.”

The resurfaced tweets immediately put Ryan’s latest claim under a microscope, especially given how directly they contradict his statement. So, Ryan tried to shut down one specific narrative, but the response online shows that past accusations are still very much part of the conversation, and they’re not going away quietly.

Do you think Joey Ryan’s statement holds up given the responses, or do moments like this make it harder for him to move past his past? Let us know your thoughts.
